Noroton Presbyterian Church
Children’s Ministry
Preschool Teachers Position
NPC Children’s Minsitry is looking for someone to teach and care for our preschool Sunday School Children. This paid position requires prior experience teaching preschoolers and a back ground check. We are in need of a reliable, ethical, self starter with a love of God and children. You need to be willing to work with parents, and think on your feet. Children’s Ministry will provide training and the curriculum. As the teacher you would prepare the lesson and activities set forth in the Leaders Guide or you can come up with your own lesson related activities. We will also supply or reimburse you for reasonable purchases used in the lesson.
Hours are every Sunday from 8:30-12/12:30 (depending on the need).
If you or someone you know is interested and qualified please contact Linda Yim at linda.yim@norotonchurch.org or call her at 203-655-1451 x34

Welcome children as they come in. Have parents sign children into the book and give their child a nametag. Also, collect offering as children come in so they don’t have to hold onto it. Invite the child to participate in one of the gathering activities.
At about 10 minutes after the start of the service, invite children to come to the carpet and sit in a circle for the story telling time. Open teaching time with a prayer.
Follow the leader’s guide with response activities/games/sharing.
Offer snack. Have the children help set up and clean up from snack. Make sure to offer a prayer of thanks.
As time permits, give children other options of things to do. (such as puzzles, games, Simon Says, drawing).
If a child needs to use the bathroom and you are alone – call for the Superintendant and he/she will take the child to the bathroom
If you are dealing with in inconsolable child – have the Superintendant get the parents from service
If you have a child who’d had a bathroom accident – have the Superintendant get the parents from service.
The Superintendent will ring a bell outside the classrooms when parents are singing the final hymn in the Sanctuary. At this time, clean up the room and if possible, sit in a circle and pray with the children. Dismiss as parents arrive at the door. BE SURE TO FOLLOW THE NPC DISMISSAL POLICIES.
BEFORE LEAVING: As an overall guide....leave the room the way you found it, keep in mind that we share the rooms with the Noroton Presbyterian Pre-School teachers and kids.
